September: Boot Camp

The fellowship begins end of September with an intense "boot camp" experience, where the fellows will be immersed in the clinical focus area for the year and get familiar with the biodesign innovation process through an accelerated “mini-project” and interactive sessions with digital health experts.

October: Needs Finding

During the needs finding, the fellows will observe daily clinical practice by shadowing physicians and interviewing patients.  They will be able to ask questions around delivery of care or medical expertise and clinicians are excited to answer. These observations are conducted at NHS Primary Care Facilities in and around Oxford, as well as other traditional and non-traditional care venues relevant to the clinical focus area. The goal is to identify hundreds of important unmet clinical needs facing healthcare providers, patients, and other stakeholders in the field.

November through December: Needs Screening

The next step is to to determine which of the identified needs represent the most compelling business opportunities. Through research around market potential, current treatment landscape or potential patient impact and interviews with a broad range of stakeholders, the team will select only the most promising needs to be taken forward.
